Women Who Write Together

Mission Statement

We believe in supporting all women—without bias or judgment. We foster a joyful, rewarding
environment where creative expression is encouraged and respected. Through open
dialogue and constructive feedback, we grow together as writers and individuals. We value
learning, curiosity, and the courage to explore new ideas. With gratitude for every experience, we commit to a six-month journey of growth, creativity, and meaningful success. We aim to
inspire and support future groups of women, inviting them to discover the healing power of
writing and the strength found in shared stories.

Every month you will receive a writing prompt via email. The prompt will be wide open. Interpret it as you will. You can write in any style, poetry, flash fiction, short story, autobiography, etc. The length is up to you, though since we’re sharing monthly by email, we probably should present shorter works as opposed to full-length novels (a chapter could work). You can write for as long as you want to and wherever you want to . . . while taking a walk, sitting at a table in a park, lying in bed, in the supermarket line, or sitting at your desk . . .Once you have completed the writing prompt, you will upload it to a shared Google Drive, so the group can experience each other's words together. You will be awed by and excited about the varied approaches our writers take! Feel free to send comments to each other.
Please reach out if you are stuck, would like more direction, or would like beta reader/editing help. This is a group project, and we are all here to support and encourage each other.

The Process

The Big Picture

We will collect participants' prompt responses for the next six months (one each month).
So that we can all put faces to names and chat about the struggles and triumphs of sharing
words, we will have once a month Zoom meetings.  At the end of the six months, we will meet in person* to create/build "zines" (short for magazines). Zines are mini, self-made books.

We will distribute them in little libraries and public spaces where we each spend time. On the back of each zine will be a scan code leading readers to a web page (under construction)  that explains who we are. In this way, we hope to encourage other women to express their creative genius in future projects.

*If you are remote, we will mail zines to you for distribution where you live.
